HAHP’s new Recreation Library encourages collaboration

On Nov. 28, 2022, Dalhousie’s Faculty of Well being and Human Efficiency (HAHP) launched college students, school, and group members to the Recreation Library, a helpful useful resource that has been two years within the making.
Positioned on the fourth flooring of the Dentistry constructing, this new area provides HAHP-specific assets for pupil use, together with bean luggage, hula hoops, artwork provides, and board video games. The gadgets, which assist college students brainstorm concepts for sophistication and extracurricular actions, are shared throughout the college’s disciplines.
The undertaking was funded by a grant from Dal’s Centre for Studying and Educating. Dr. Karen Gallant, Recreation and Leisure Research’ Affiliate Professor and Division Head, oversaw its growth.
“I’m excited concerning the Recreation Library as a brand new means for our college students to attach with and study from one another, experiment and innovate, and have enjoyable,” says Dr. Gallant. “Already they’re growing and sharing assets, similar to exercise kits and directions for facilitating video games and icebreakers.”
Volunteering opportunties
The Recreation Library was impressed by lending libraries, which gained recognition all through the pandemic. Designed for communities to share not often used gear, lending libraries can present all types of provides to borrow, together with instruments, bicycles, electronics, and video games.
